My name is Kelly Farrell and I am a UX designer.I describe great web design in three words:
simple. clean. responsive.
Born and raised in New York, I wanted to get out of the north and have new experiences. I went to college in Virginia for four years at James Madison University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Writing, Rhetoric, and Technincal Communication. During my last semester, I interned as a web student at WVPT, Virginia's Source for PBS. From there, I grew an appreciation and passion for code and how the web works as a whole. After I graduated, I took some programming classes in search to quench my thirst for more knowledge. I migrated back to New York in 2012 and began taking web and interactive media classes at the Art Institute in New York City. I am very excited to enhance the user experience and keep up with my education as the web continues to change.
This is what I do.
The client will provide what information and images they'd like for their website. Everything from structure and text to color scheme is discussed. Milestones are planned to make sure the process is kept on schedule and every discussed detail is implemented.
Once all the require information is gathered and the client and I are agreed on the expected final outcome, the planning begins. A sitemap is constructed of what the structure of the website will be. This consists of pages and subpages within the nav.
The last step before the website gets coded and FTP'd on a web host will be producing sketches, wireframes, and mockups through Figma, Sketch or Adobe Creative Suite. This way the client can get a vision of what the final product will look like. A style guide and overall layout will be approved.
This is the fun part. Html5 and CSS3 code will be written to design the look and feel of the website. Javascript and jQuery is used to make a static page interactive. Responsive websites are a must, so that will be the final task before launching the new website.
